Positions Available:

Web Hosting Systems Administrator, Platform Migrations, Level 1

Hostopia is a leading provider of web services that enable small- and medium-sized businesses to establish and maintain an Internet presence. The company's customers are communication services providers, including telecommunication carriers, cable companies, Internet service providers, domain registrars, and web hosting service providers. Hostopia's customers purchase their web services on a wholesale basis and resell these services under their own brands to small- and medium-sized businesses. The company provides customers with the technology, infrastructure, and support services to enable them to offer web services, while saving them research & development as well as capital and operating costs typically associated with the design, development, and delivery of web services. Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Participate in initial meetings to determine technical requirements prior to partner website/email migrations
  • Participate in ongoing meetings / communication with partner technical contacts before during and after site / email migrations
  • Participate in technical meetings / communications addressing customer integration needs
  • Coach partner technical contacts on integration techniques, tools and recommended practices
  • Coach other Project Management staff in relevant hosting technologies, practices and issues
  • Develop, test, document and deploy scripts to facilitate website and email migrations
  • Develop, test, document and deploy billing and provisioning integration scripts and applications
  • Address key technical issues for key customers as directed by Project Management staff
  • Provide specific technical insights to Hostopia System Administrators and Development staff pertaining to customer needs, migrations, integrations and deployed technologies
  • Maintain department specific servers and hardware

Skills:

  • Must be adept at multitasking and prioritizing
  • Must be able to work well under pressure
  • Must be comfortable participating in technical meetings
  • Must be capable of directing other technical workers both internal and external to Hostopia
  • Must be willing to research and embrace new technologies pertinent to the Project Management departments needs
  • Should feel comfortable writing technical specs and technological manuals
  • Ability to quickly asses technical issues and deploy appropriate solutions

Knowledge:

  • Excellent knowledge of the Internet (DNS / Bind, BGP 4, Routing, Networking, TCP-IP, UDP, etc.)
  • Understanding of Hosting /Email /DNS architectures both UNIX (Sun and others) and Windows based
  • Excellent scripting knowledge پœ Knowledge of various web programing languages (ASP, CFM, VB, PHP, Perl)
  • Knowledge of various Database types and Database implications to hosting environments
  • Knowledge of various SSL deployments in relation to hosting environments and email
  • Basic understanding of internet payment gateway technologies and E-commerce systems
  • Basic understanding of various electronic provisioning / billing systems Requirements:
  • Evening and weekend work might be required
  • Working from home might be required
